Distance education gave her the skills she needed to find the perfect job
Conny Hutchinson made a decision to reenter the job market once her children started school. She decided to pursue a career as a pharmacy technician after speaking with a friend who was in the field and seeing an ad for U.S. Career Institute's Pharmacy Technician certificate program.
Conny began her course in April of 2014 and finished within four months. After completing the program, she made it a priority to study for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) national exam. With the solid foundation of knowledge she gained through her course and by utilizing all the recommended study materials, Connie passed the exam on the first try. Shortly after passing the exam, she accepted a position as a pharmacy technician and billing manager with a local pharmacy where she has enjoyed working for over a year.
Conny has been able to combine her background as a financial secretary with her newly acquired pharmacy technician skills to create a work environment that makes the most of her strengths. Her job also allows her to work a flexible schedule with an income that sufficiently provides for her family. Conny feels that the U.S. Career Institute course, along with the Walgreens externship she completed, gave her insight and an advantage for career success.
"U.S. Career Institute helped me achieve my education and career goals. Thanks to the training and externship opportunity, I am now a licensed pharmacy technician working in a job that I love."
