Army veteran and successful entrepreneur celebrates the power of potential in work and life
Dana Guillory is a 22-year Army veteran who has a thriving career in human resources. At Grantham University, she earned a bachelor's degree in multidisciplinary studies, a master's degree in performance improvement and a graduate-level certificate in human resources. Today, Dana is CEO of Potential Realized in San Antonio, Texas.
As a disabled veteran and cancer survivor, Dana had the option of taking an earned and well-deserved "rest." Instead, she chose to pursue education and enhance her human resources abilities to improve lives and inspire others to achieve their goals. She founded the motivational company Potential Realized, with the motto: We believe that bringing out the best in each of us enriches ALL of us. As a personal trainer, group facilitator, individual coach, advisor and corporate executive consultant, Dana has partnered with a diverse range of clients, customers and organizations within the public and private sectors. She epitomizes resilience and determination, having overcome many medical challenges, including being a two-time cancer survivor, and told she would never walk again.
In 2016, she was inducted into the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW), receiving its Woman of the Year award. In December 2017, she earned the Certified Veteran Fitness Operative (CVFO) title through the FitOps Foundation, where she has helped other veterans become Certified Personal Trainers. And in March 2018, Dana earned inclusion into the esteemed Continental Who's Who organization and was awarded the Pinnacle Professional of the Year award for her accomplishments, both professionally and personally. As a result of this honor, there will be a permanent place for her in the Library of Congress. In addition to being a strong advocate for higher education and diligent pursuit of goals, Dana devotes countless volunteer hours on behalf of our country's veterans, ALS and cancer research.
"Going to school online took commitment, discipline and patience. The knowledge and degrees I earned at Grantham University empowered me to enter the workforce and now entrepreneurship with confidence, and provided the educational foundation to advance my career and ultimately my professional reputation."
