In 2017, Vu The Phiet earned an MBA from Columbia Southern University's Center for International Training Corp. in Vietnam. Since his graduation, he has been promoted twice and now serves as the general director/CEO of Airports Corporation of Vietnam.

With more than 23 years of professional experiences, Vu Phiet has succeeded in making a significant mark in the airport industry in Vietnam. In 2012, he became the director of the Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, Vietnam. Under his management as the airport director, NIA received many outstanding achievements with various large projects. The airport was ranked No. 28 in the Top 30 Best Airports in Asia from 2015-2018. It was also ranked in Skytrax's list of 100 of the world's best airports and was awarded the title of "World's Most Improved Airport" in 2016. In February 2017, Vu Phiet was promoted to deputy general director of Airports Corporation of Vietnam. The company, operated under the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam, manages the civil airports in Vietnam.

In October 2018, he was promoted again to general director/CEO of the company with the goal of overseeing the largest airport construction project of Vietnam in the Dong Nai province. Called the Long Thanh International Airport, the project involves a $16 billion investment. Vu Phiet is also responsible for implementing a development plan with a total invest of approximately $3 billion. The plan will be implementing during 2018-2025 and will focus on improving the national infrastructure system. He also services on the Airports Corporation of Vietnam's board of directors.
