If your Institution has decided to participate in either the Outstanding Graduate or Famous Alumni program, you should pick one person to serve as your institution's point of contact for the program. Your institution's point of contact should use the steps below to complete the entry process.
1. Collect the necessary information for your Outstanding Graduate/Famous Alumni
You must complete the Outstanding Graduate Entry Form and/or the Famous Alumni Entry Form by Friday, March 27th. The entry form consists of several sections: Institution Contact Details, Graduate/Alumni Entry Materials, and Award Information. Details on each section, including the information required for each section of the entry, are available below:
Institution Contact Details
You should pick one person to serve as your institution's point of contact for the program. All program related communications and materials will be sent to the institution contact person.
Graduate/Alumni Entry Materials
This section of the entry form is used for your Graduate/Alumni entry materials (photo, write-up, etc.) All entries must adhere to the write-up template and photo guidelines. Additionally, all entries must include a copy of the Media Release Form signed by your Graduate/Alumni.
This section of the entry form is used to indicate whether your institution would like to order a commemorative award for your Graduate/Alumni, and whether (at the university's expense) you would like to invite your institution's Graduate/Alumni to Miami to speak at the DEAC's 94th Annual Conference. More information about what Graduates/Alumni can expect at the Annual Conference is available on the Graduates and Alumni page of the Conference website.
Before Completing the Entry Form
It is not possible to save a partially completed entry form. You will need all the following information ready before beginning Outstanding Graduate or Famous Alumni Entry Forms:
Contact information for your institution's Contact Person.
Current contact information for your Graduate/Alumni.
A write-up of your Graduate or Alumni that adheres to the template available here.
A current photo of your Graduate or Alumni that meets the guidelines available here.
A copy of the Media Release Form signed by your graduate/alumni.
If your graduate will be attending the Annual Conference, you will also need to have the following information:
- The name of your Graduate/Alumni exactly as it should be engraved on their commemorative award.
- The name of the person from your institution who will present the award to your Graduate/Alumni.
Remember, You must have ALL of the required information before starting the submission form, as it is not possible to restart the form later. Incomplete entries, or entries that do not adhere to the submission guidelines, will be deleted.
2. Complete Outstanding Graduate /Famous Alumni Entry Forms (February/March 2020)
Once you have the necessary information for your entry, you should complete the Outstanding Graduate/Famous Alumni Program Entry Forms. Outstanding Graduate and Famous Alumni Program Entry Forms must be completed by Friday, March 27th. DEAC reserves the right to remove incomplete or late entries from the 2020 Outstanding Graduates and Famous Alumni Program.

After submitting your entry, it will be reviewed by DEAC staff to ensure it adheres to all of the submission guidelines. You will receive a confirmation email that your entry is approved. Your entry is not final until you receive the confirmation email. Additionally, DEAC reserves the right to edit entries to ensure they conform to the published guidelines.
3. Review and Approve a Copy of your Outstanding Graduate/Famous Alumni's page in the DEAC Outstanding Graduates and Famous Alumni section of the DEAC website. (May/June 2020)
After all the Outstanding Graduate and Famous Alumni entries are received and approved, they will be added to the Outstanding Graduates and Famous Alumni section of the DEAC website.
Before publication, a link to a preview version of the page will be sent via email to the institution contact person for review. Instructions for reviewing and returning the page will be included in the email.
4. Awards (if ordered) are distributed to institutions. (May/June 2020)
If your institution elected to order a commemorative award for your Graduate/Alumni, DEAC will send institution contacts the engraved awards after the Annual Conference.
PLEASE NOTE: Awards will be sent to the institution contact. It is the institution's responsibility to send the award to their graduate/alumni.
