Centennial Awards Program

Each year at the DEAC Annual Conference, we gather to celebrate excellence and achievement in distance education through our Awards Program.

About the Program

Established in 1961, this signature event honors the outstanding graduates, alumni, and volunteers whose dedication and accomplishments exemplify the very best of DEAC’s century-long tradition of quality education and innovation.

This year’s awards, presented Tuesday, April 21 during DEAC’s Centennial Celebration Awards Luncheon, represent a particularly meaningful moment to recognize a century of leadership, innovation, and achievement in distance education.

Celebrate the Centennial with Sharable Social Media Content

Outstanding Graduate and Famous Alumni awardees are invited to virtually record a three-minute video tribute with our professional videography team, that will be showcased during the 2026 Centennial Celebration Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 in Washington, D.C. and throughout the 2026 Centennial year on DEAC’s social media channels. Each graduate and their institution will receive a copy to share on social media or other platforms, celebrating their achievements and showcasing how millions of students have realized their goals through DEAC-accredited distance education. More detailed instructions and an online scheduling tool will be provided once a complete entry form is submitted to DEAC.

Outstanding Graduates and Famous Alumni

Participating in DEAC’s Outstanding Graduate and Famous Alumni Award Program is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate student success and inspire others. Each DEAC-accredited institution has the opportunity to enter and recognize an Outstanding Graduate and/or Famous Alumni. To learn more about this opportunity, please review the entry forms at the links below. Entry forms are due by January 31, 2026.

Excellence in Distance Education Awards

The DEAC Awards Committee invites nominations to recognize dedicated volunteers and community participants whose time, talent, and leadership make a meaningful difference in advancing DEAC’s mission and improving the lives of distance education students. These awards honor those whose dedication makes lasting contributions to the distance education community, strengthens the quality and impact of our programs, and advances our shared mission of promoting excellence in distance education. In honor of DEAC’s Centennial, the Awards Committee is introducing three new award categories—the Global Impact Award, the Excellence in Peer Evaluation Award, and the Outstanding Faculty Award—to highlight the worldwide influence of distance education and to celebrate a century of service, innovation, and freedom to learn for students everywhere.

By submitting a nomination, you help spotlight the remarkable individuals who play a vital role in shaping the future of DEAC and supporting the success of our students and institutions. The nomination forms and more detailed descriptions of each award category are available through the links below. The Awards Committee selects the award recipients.
